This project addresses the severe climatic conditions affecting the United Arab Emirates by proposing a revolutionary solution: burying most of its spaces to achieve effective thermal control that allows comfortable family life.

At ground level we find the public block - access, main hall, garage and Majlis. Through it, the guests can enter the Majlis and the family can descend to the house buried at -1 level, which is organized in three different blocks around a central patio.

The house is inspired by the architectural roots of Emirati culture and seeks to create a symbiosis between the past and the present, with a focus on the future. Each of its elements fulfills an essential function to achieve comfortable spaces for the well-being of the family.

The house buries itself to provide excellent thermal insulation and complete privacy. In addition, the thick walls of the house provide a distinctive architectural character, a thermal function and structural stability. 

The materiality of the cladding, both inside and out, provides a uniform visual appearance that expands the spaces and evokes the aesthetics of the traditional plastered walls of the region.

Similarly, the flooring is made of irregularly split stones throughout the house. This choice provides spaciousness to the spaces and pays homage to traditional building materials. Its thermal mass helps regulate the temperature, keeping the interiors comfortable and cool in the middle of the desert heat. 

The use of water in the house, both in fountains and pathways, creates pleasant spaces and brings an aesthetic rooted in the territory. In addition, this resource is used for passive cooling through the evaporation of water, which improves the microclimate by reducing the sensation of heat and increasing the comfort of the occupants. 

The project absorbs the essence of Emirati architecture in its functional, aesthetic and cultural dimensions. It responds to the current needs of the region, contributes to sustainability and integrates the wisdom of its past.
